Volleyball Defeats Texas Lutheran University 3-2

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Volleyball team won their neutral site conference match against Texas Lutheran University 3-2.

The Mountaineers traveled to San Antonio for their neutral site Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matchup against the Bulldogs from Texas Lutheran University, hosted by Trinity University.

Schreiner would drop the first set 25-18, but bounced back quickly as they took the following two sets 28-26 and 25-17. However, the Bulldogs responded in the fourth set and kept the match alive by winning 25-15 and forcing a fifth and final set. Fortunately, the Mountaineers came through in the end and won the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.

Leading the way on offense for Schreiner was junior middle, Taylor Braxton, who finished with a team high 15 kills on 42 total attacks (.239 K%). Also with a strong performance on offense was senior setter, Mia Moreno, who finished with a team high 29 assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, it was sophomore Jenna Palomarez who steadied the ship for the Mountaineers and finished with an outstanding 35 digs (season high).

The win by Schreiner marked their first win over Texas Lutheran this season and was critical to their placement in the SCAC standings as they make their final push towards the 2023 SCAC Championship.
