Women’s Basketball Falls in SCAC Semifinals

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Women's Basketball team lost their SCAC Semifinal matchup against Trinity University 64-54.

The Mountaineers remained in Shreveport, Louisiana, to continue the 2024 SCAC Women's Basketball Championship with a matchup against the #1 Tigers from Trinity University.

Unfortunately, Schreiner's season would come to a conclusion after a dramatic second half comeback from the Tigers eliminated the Mountaineers in the SCAC Semifinals.

Schreiner would close their season with a 10-17 overall record and an 8-8 record in SCAC play.

"Schreiner jumped out to a 12-8 lead late in the first quarter before the Mountaineers held a 21-13 lead at the end of the first period. Nariyah Buggs 3-pointer early in the second quarter pushed the Schreiner lead to 24-13. Schreiner's lead was as much as 13 before Trinity began cutting into the lead around the midpoint of the second quarter. A Maggie Robbins layup just before halftime cut Schreiner's lead to just 32-28 at the intermission. Trinity responded by taking command of the game in the third. The Tigers outscored the Mountaineers by an 18-7 margin and then repelled any comeback attempt from Schreiner."
