Schreiner University

Brian Bernard has been an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Schreiner University since Fall 2014. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University in 2002 and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University in 2014. He also served as a Naval Officer from 2002-2009, including a tour of duty on board the submarine USS Albany (SSN-753) where he held the positions of Chemical and Radiological Controls Officer and Assistant Weapons Officer, and a tour as an Instructor in the Naval Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Bernard mentors undergraduate technical research in the areas of nonlinear dynamics, autonomous systems, and virtual reality, as well as pop culture scholarship in a variety of film and gaming topics.

As Faculty Athletics Representative, Dr. Bernard works closely with the Director of Athletics, Head Coaches, Registrar, and the University President to ensure a quality student-athlete experience, and to ensure the academic integrity of the athletics program.
