Keith Allen enters his second season as the head football coach at Schreiner University and continues to lead one of the most ambitious projects in NCAA Division III football—the revival of Mountaineer Football after a nearly 70-year absence. Hired in February 2025, Allen was tasked with building the program from the ground up. In just over a year, he has assembled an experienced coaching staff, signed one of the nation's largest inaugural recruiting classes, developed a culture centered on toughness, discipline, enthusiasm, and servant leadership, and helped reintroduce Schreiner Football to the Kerrville community. During the program's developmental 2025 campaign, the Mountaineers posted a 5-1 record while laying the foundation for the program's first varsity season in 2026. Allen brings nearly three decades of coaching experience spanning NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and Texas high school football. His coaching career includes stops at the University of Oklahoma, Northeast Louisiana (now ULM), TCU, Quincy University, San Jose State University, Southwest Baptist University, The King's Academy (Fla.), Klein High School, and Schreiner University.Prior to arriving at Schreiner, Allen served as offensive coordinator at Klein High School, helping lead one of the state's most competitive programs. Before returning to Texas, he spent seven seasons as head coach at The King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he guided the Lions to unprecedented success, including multiple district championships, regional championships, a state runner-up finish, and numerous top-10 state rankings. His accomplishments earned multiple Coach of the Year honors, including Florida Coach of the Year recognition.Allen also enjoyed a successful tenure as head coach at Southwest Baptist University, becoming the winningest coach in program history at the time while leading the Bearcats to multiple winning seasons and postseason contention. Throughout his collegiate coaching career, he has coordinated defenses, offenses, served as recruiting coordinator and special teams coordinator, and developed student-athletes who have advanced to professional football.Known as an innovative coach and dynamic program builder, Allen's teams have consistently been recognized for their explosive offenses, disciplined play, and player development. Just as importantly, he has built a reputation for mentoring young men to succeed academically, professionally, and personally. Allen's coaching philosophy is built around four core values: Team First, Toughness, Enthusiasm & Effort, and Discipline. His mission is to develop graduates who become outstanding husbands, fathers, leaders, and citizens while competing for championships on the football field.Away from football, Allen is deeply committed to community engagement and service. Under his leadership, Schreiner Football has become an active presence throughout Kerr County through youth mentorship, service projects, leadership initiatives, and community partnerships, reflecting his belief that a football program should positively impact the community it represents.A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Allen earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Dr. Melissa Allen, have been married for more than 27 years and have two children, Katie and James.
