Shotgun Competes at Fort Hays State University

KERRVILLE, TX: This past weekend the Schreiner University Shotgun team opened up their collegiate season on the road with a trip to Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS.

The match included 350 total targets; 100 American Trap, 100 Trap Doubles, 50 Doubles Skeet and 100 Sporting Clays. The match had an excellent turnout with 165 shooters from 11 different schools.

"Day 1, weather was slightly different than what we have been accustomed to in Texas as it was 45 degrees strong winds topped off with some rain." - Damian Giles, Head Coach

They persevered however and were still able to secure a 4th place team finish. Individual shoutouts go to freshman, Tyler Cassara, who had 99 in Trap Singles (tied for 1st) and 99 in Doubles Trap (1st) which put him in a good spot for individual HOA. He ended up tied for 5th on the weekend. Also with a strong performance was sophomore, Sarah Sherlock, who tied for ladies 1st in Doubles Trap with 93/100, and senior, Zach Jensen, who tied for 2nd in men's Sporting Clays

Next weekend, the Mountaineers will travel to San Angelo, Texas, for the San Angelo State Royalty 200.
