Track & Field Competes at SCAC Championships

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to San Antonio, Texas, this weekend to compete in the 2022 SCAC Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships.

As a team, the Schreiner Men finished in 7th place and the Schreiner Women finished in 6th place. Even though both teams might not have finished as high as they wanted to in the overall standings, they still had strong performances and improved in just about every event. Throughout the two days of competition, Schreiner would end up breaking a total of 12 school records. The stand-outs on the individual level were Gabby Ivarra who made the finals in Women's Long Jump, Bronson Evans who made the finals in Men's Long Jump, and Kevin Fernandez who made the finals in Men's Shot Put.

After the championships concluded, Melissa Landon was named ALL-SCAC in Women's High Jump, and Gabby Ivarra was named ALL-SCAC in Women's High Jump and Women's 100m Hurdles. Making Ivarra the first dual-sport Mountaineer to recieve ALL-SCAC recognition this season in multiple sports (Women's Basketball, Women's Track & Field).
