
KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Men's & Women's Cross Country teams took a trip to San Antonio this morning to compete in the Our Lady of the Lake University Invitational.
It was a fantastic outing for the Mountaineers this morning in San Antonio. The Schreiner Men's team finished in 6th place and featured a school record breaking performance from Marco Hernandez. Hernandez finished with spectacular 8k time of 27:05, which is a new school record for Schreiner University! Joining Hernandez was teammate Tristan Salinas who also had a fantastic finishing time of 27:48 in the 8k, a personal best for him. This was the first time in recent memory that the Mountaineers had multiple 8k finishing times under 30 minutes. Jacoby Sanchez also ran a great race, finishing with a time of 30:14, cutting 2:16 off of his previous best.
The Schreiner Women's team finished in 7th place this morning and and also featured a school record breaking performance from Sarah Endres! Endres finished with an incredible 6k time of 24:20, setting a new personal best and a new school record. Joining Endres was Lanie Douget and Elisa Peralta who also finished with personal bests of 26:47 (Douget) and 26:48 (Peralta).
Overall, both teams took a massive leap forward in this race and have shown steady improvement throughout this season. Up next, both teams will be heading to Abilene, Texas, for the Bill Libby Invitational.
