Katelyn Smith Earns SCAC Women's Golf Elite 19 Award

BLANCO, Texas – In an announcement made following Tuesday's final round, Schreiner University's Katelyn Smith was named the 2021 SCAC Women's Golf Elite 19 award winner.

Smith, a senior from Missouri City, Texas, currently holds a 3.361 GPA while majoring in Business and Finance, and earned First Team All-SCAC honors after firing a two-day total of 166 to finish tied for fifth in the 30-player field.

Smith is the second Schreiner student-athlete to earn Elite 19 honors. She joins Hannah Ortiz, who was named the 2019 SCAC Softball award winner.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
