SCAC Fan Policy Update

SCAC Fan Policy Update

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In an announcement made prior to the first championships of the 2020-21 academic year, the SCAC reiterated its current fan policy as it relates to attendance at athletic events on its member institutional campuses.

"After consultations with the league's athletic training staffs and game day administrators, the SCAC Presidents Council has decided to stick with its current policy of not allowing fans at any athletic event on a member campus for the immediate future," stated SCAC Commissioner Dwayne Hanberry.

In addition to regular season events on campus, fans will not be allowed at the SCAC Cross Country Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday, February 6 on the campus of the University of Dallas, or at the SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which are scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, February 11-13 at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio, Texas.

"The Presidents Council obviously recognizes the desire of parents, family and friends to attend SCAC events and to be there in-person to support our student-athletes. But with several of our campuses still maintaining a strict limited visitors' policy, the group collectively agreed the time was not right to deviate from the current policy."

The league's attendance policy will continually be reviewed throughout the remainder of the spring semester, and should any updates to the policy occur, those will be posted on the conference website.
