KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Volleyball team won their home contest against McMurry University this evening 3-2.
It was an exciting night out in the Stephens Family Arena, as the Mountaineers rallied back from being down 2-1 to win the match in a fifth and final set. Leading the offensive charge for Schreiner was the usual suspects, Kayla Lofland (14 kills), Brooke Byer (16 kills), Jackie Sotello (9 kills), and joing the party was Taylor Braxton who finished with 10 kills, including the match winner. Also with a stand out performace was Mia Moreno who recorded an impressive 50 assists, and Elora Reyes who finished with 23 digs.
It was also a special night for the Mountaineers for a different reason. Senior, Kayla Lofland, reached an incredible milestone in set 2, recording her 1,000th career kill.
Up next, the Mountaineers will remain at home as they jump back into conference play with a SCAC crossover tournament, begininng with Colorado College on October 1st, at 10:00 AM.
