Women's Tennis Competes at ITA Regionals

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Women's Tennis team traveled to San Antonio, Texas, this past weekend to compete in the ITA Southwest Regionals.

Sophomore, Hannah Reyna, competed in the Championship Draw losing her first round to the #1 seed from the University of Texas-Dallas 6-4, 6-1. Reyna would win her first round of consolation against Trinity University 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(13) before falling to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the round of 16 6-3, 6-2.

Senior, Blair Drought-Villarreal, competed in the Championship Draw, losing her first round 6-2, 7-6(3) and would lose her first round of consolation to the University of Texas-Dallas 6-1, 6-2.

Freshman, Anna McCormick, competed in C Draw, winning her first round against McMurry University 6-2, 5-7, 1-0(5) before losing to LeTourneau University 6-2, 5-7, 1-0(5).

Junior, Rachel Rompel, also competed in C Draw losing her first round to East Texas Baptist University 4-6, 7-6(2), 1-0(4). Rompel would win her first round of consolation against LeTourneau University 6-2, 6-0, pushing her to the final before losing to East Texas Baptist University 7-5, 6-3.

Sophomore, Daniella Rodriquez, competed in the D Draw winning her first-round match against the University of Dallas 6-2, 6-0, before falling to the ETBU #1 seed 6-0, 2-6, 1-0(4).

Freshman, Amy Lowe, also competed in D Draw and would win her first-round match against Howard Payne University 4-6, 6-0,1-0(9), before falling to the #3 seed TLU 6-3, 6-0.

Freshman, Sandra Novelo, also competed in the D draw losing her first round to LeTourneau University 6-2, 6-3. Novelo would win her first round of consolation against Austin College 6-2, 6-2 before losing in the consolation semi-final to Hardin-Simmons University 6-2, 4-6, 1-0(6).
