KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Volleyball team lost their match against Hardin-Simmons University this evening 3-2.
It was a nail-biter in the Stephens Family Arena this evening as the Mountaineers battled back and forth against the Cowgirls from Hardin-Simmons University. Unfortunately, it was Schreiner who fell just short in the 5th and final set, losing the match 3-2.
The Mountaineers opened up strong as they took Set 1, 25-23. However, the Cowgirls quickly bounced back, taking the next two sets 25-17 & 28-26. Set 4 was all Schreiner, as the Mountaineers pulled off a dominant performance, winning the set 25-18 and forcing a 5th and final set. Unfortunately, after an intense back and forth, the Mountaineers came up just short, losing the set 15-13, and the match 3-2.
Despite the loss. it was still a very strong showing for seniors Kayla Lofland & Brooke Byer. Byer finished with 19 Kills on 87 attacks (.115 K%) and Lofland finished with 14 kills on 55 attacks (.127 K%).
Up next, the Mountaineers will hit the road to take on McMurry University on September 17th, at 12:30 PM.
