KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Volleyball team defeated Simpson College this evening 3-1.
The win streak got pushed to three this evening after the Mountaineers defeated Simpson College 3-1. Schreiner got out of the gates hot as they took Set 1, 27-25. However, Simpson College quickly found their footing in Set 2, defeating Schreiner, 17-25. When Set 3 came around though, it was all Schreiner as the Mountaineers took the lead again, winning the set 25-19. Finally, Schreiner put the match away, winning Set 4, 25-21.
This time around, it was the Mountaineer senior leadership team who took control of the match. Senior, Kayla Lofland, had an outstanding performance, finishing with 18 kills on 40 total attacks (.350 K%). Also with a strong performance was Brooke Byer (13 kills), and Mia Moreno (35 assists, 12 digs). All-around, it was a very strong showing for the Mountaineers as they got their roadtrip started out in Houston.
Up next, the Mountaineers will remain on the road as they are set to take on Simpson College again tomorrow morning.
