2018 OKC Open

Schreiner competed in their first tournament this weekend, November 3rd-4th in Oklahoma City.

They went up against programs such ad D-1 Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma, D-2 University of Central Oklahoma, New Mexico Highlands, other NAIA's and junior Colleges. Many of the team got a couple of wins and learned a lot in their first college tournament.

Outstanding performances by Isaac Stalcup at 125, going 3-2 and finishing in the top 6. Ben Humada was extremely strong yesterday as well. He got a few wins, and the ones he dropped were extremely close. Alex Alberto, still up in weight, managed to be extremely competitive there. He also had a few wins and kept all other matches tight. Damien Rivera was very tough yesterday as well. Also headed down in weight, but still put a dent in the tournament at 184. All of Allen Rapollo's matches were extremely tight. Other great showings were by Tiryek West, Nick Hammond, Josh Tatman, Derek Reyna . Most all of these guys got some wins under their belts, and their feet wet at the next level, in a very tough first tournament! The team was missing standouts, Steven Gamez, Brett Barefoot, Brodey Beckman, Myles Thiergood, due to injuries and personal matters. Headed to Kansas next week and we're looking forward to having these guys back with us.
