Keenan Gumbs selected to CoSIDA All-America Team!

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Schreiner University's Keenan Gumbs shined on and off the basketball court this season as he picked up another accolade Wednesday. Gumbs was named to the 2017-18 Academic All-America® Division III Men's Basketball Third Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Keenan is the first SCAC Men's Basketball student-athlete since 2012 to earn the award and the second in the last 15 years!

Gumbs, a senior for the Mountaineers, holds a 3.72 grade point average as a Excercise Sport Science major. He has earned a spot on both the Schreiner Dean's List  and the President's List three times and he has been recognized on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll each year since beginning at SU.

He finished the season ranked second in the league in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per game. For the season, he shot just under 50.0% from the field and 43.3% from distance. Defensively, Gumbs averaged 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Gumbs collected three Player of the Week honors. His highest career scoring performance added his name to the conference record book, marking the third-best scoring performance in league history. He was named the league's 2017-18 Player of the Year and earned 2018 SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament MVP honors after leading the team to its first-ever SCAC tournament title.
