Ashley Brune, who recently received a master’s degree in education from Schreiner, leads the equestrian team. She began her riding career at age six in her native Canada and was introduced to dressage shortly thereafter. At 16 she was picked to train in the Future Young Rider Select Training program. She competed in both juniors and young riders in dressage until she was 21.

Brune trains and competes in both show jumping and dressage with Grand Prix riders Eva Oldenbroek and Joshua Tabor. Competing at Prix St. George with her 10-year-old Holsteiner mare, she qualified for nationals in first and second level after only six months of training.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in human kinetics from Trinity Western University in British Columbia, where she also received her social service worker certification.
