Baseball Sweeps Home Series Against Blackburn After 6-5 Win

KERRVILLE, TX: The Mountaineers played their final game of the series against Blackburn on Tuesday afternoon. Schreiner defeated the Beavers 6-5 to earn their first sweep of the season.

The Mountaineers and Beavers matched each other step for step through the first four innings with three runs in the first and one in the second for each team. The Mountaineers scored a run in the fifth and again in the seventh from a home run by junior, Reece Hohhertz. The Beavers answered with a single run in the eighth inning, but the Mountaineers ended the series with a clean ninth inning. (2-5, 2B, 3B), Contreras (2-5, 2B), Gilliam (3-4), Hohhertz (3-5, 2B, HR), Quinones (2-4) all had strong days at the plate. Whitley, Jo. Garcia (W), Blevins, and Gilliam (S) all contributed in the win on the hill.
