Schreiner Athletics Recognizes Baseball Seniors

KERRVILLE, TX: With the season for our spring sports coming to end earlier than expected, Schreiner Athletics wanted to recognize the seniors for each of these sports.

A statement from Director of Athletics Bill Raleigh:

"As all of us deal with this unprecedented Coronavirus pandemic, Schreiner Athletics wanted to recognize the Seniors from our Spring Sports. All these athletes handled themselves with grace and dignity as the announcement came down to originally suspend then cancel the remainder of the Spring Season.  They have been great representatives of Schreiner University and the athletic program. We are very proud of these fine student-athletes and wish them the best as they graduate and head out to conquer their next challenge.

Thank you for all your hard work!"

We conclude this week with recognizing the 11 seniors in our baseball program. Here is what Head Coach Ryan Brisbin had to say about Ehtan Mueller, Jack Hakala, Rylan Marchlewicz, Jordan Garcia, Bryan Bippert, George Ellio, Josh Gilliam, Reece Hohhertz, Camden Camacho, Ernest Ortiz, and Devin Gray.

Ethan Mueller | Converse, TX

"Despite his short stint with the program, Ethan had a tremendous impact on the program, specifically the pitching staff showing younger players the importance of routine and work ethic both in and out of practice."

Jack Hakala | Katy, TX

"Tremendous competitor that got better on the mound every year.  Jack got big outs for us as he became our "go to" guy in tough situations."

Rylan Marchlewicz | Crosby, TX

"Quietly improved as a pitcher every year, earning a starting spot in the rotation.  In the shorten season, Rylan started seven of Schreiner eighteen games."

Jordan Garcia | Orange Grove, TX

"Exceptional work ethic and knowledge of the game, Jordan was a valued member of Schreiner's pitching staff who had some big moments on the mound."

Bryan Bippert | Lytle, TX

"Outstanding representative of a resilient Schreiner Mountaineer, Bryan made the transition from the field to the mound and became an asset out of the bullpen."

George Elliott | Denton, TX

"George has been a valuable Mountaineer both on and off the field from day one. A talented offensive player throughout his career, George had established himself as a solid defensive catcher before injuries sidelined him."

Josh Gilliam | Spring Branch, TX

"Josh has been a four- year starter for the Mountaineers, starting in every game but one, and appearing in all 138 games. Before the season was cut short, Josh was on pace to break the season hits, doubles, and RBI records at Schreiner."

Reece Hohhertz | Belton, TX

"Big offensive contributor since the day he arrived on campus, Reece squared pitches up from both sides of the plate while being a constant in the middle of the lineup."

Camden Camacho | Spring Branch, TX

"Camden represents everything that is great about Schreiner University.  His involvement has stretched into leadership roles across campus and with our team, always stepping up in a big way when there was a need."

Ernest Ortiz | Uvalde, TX

"Ernie has been a valuable Mountaineer asset with his great work ethic and ability to succeed at the plate, in the outfield, and on the basepaths."

Devin Gray | San Antonio, TX

"Devin has been a constant for the Mountaineers the past four years with his determination and work ethic both at the plate and in the outfield."
