The Mountaineer women's wrestling team had a solid and successful showing at the Wayland open on December 1st in Lubbock, TX.
They were led by tournament champion Allie Mahoe at 116 pounds. Great tournament for Allie who has been battling injuries and limited training. Just behind her with a close 2nd was Serena Cervantes at 130. She came up short in the final in the last few seconds, but wrestled extremely well on the day. Alicia Messer also placing 2nd wrestled outstanding at 109 pounds. She put up a good fight against a highly ranked wrestler in the final, Keeping the match within striking distance till the end.
Lindsey Rittimann had a great showing at 170 pounds. Losing only to the champion and the consolation champion, she came in 4th place going 2-2 on the day. Also Miriam Delagarza who wrestled unattached at this one, had a great tournament placing 3rd.
