Softball Goes 1-2 Against Southwestern University

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Softball team went 1-2 in their three-game conference series against Southwestern University.

The Mountaineers were at home for their three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matchup against the Pirates from Southwestern University.

Schreiner would move to 2-20 overall and 1-5 in SCAC play after picking up one win against the Pirates throughout their three-game series.

Game 1 SCH 4 – SU 3

The Mountaineers opened up the series in electric fashion as they rallied late in the game and got the walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Laci Silva (Senior / New Braunfels, TX) was the hero of the night as she drove home the winning run with a deep sacrifice fly out to right field.

Leading the effort at the plate was Kendall Lippold (Sophomore / Richmond, TX) who went 2-3 with a double and an RBI.

In the circle, it was Celina Marchan (Freshman / Port Isabel) who was credited with the win after she closed out the game pitching 3.0 innings and giving up zero runs on 10 batters faced.

Game 2 SCH 3 – SU 1

The second game of the series was more of an offensive struggle for Schreiner as they were held to just one run scored through seven innings.

Leading the effort at the plate was Bridgette Montes (Senior / Burleson, TX) who went 3-4 with a double.

In the circle, it was Ky Kusak (Sophomore / La Salle, TX) who was credited with the loss after pitching 3.0 innings and giving up 3 runs on 15 batters faced.

Game 3 SCH 4 – SU 5

The final game of the series was another close battle as the Mountaineers set themselves up for another walk-off win in the seventh inning, but unfortunately, the Pirates defense held on to close the game out.

In the circle, it was Isabella Gutierrez (Senior / Devine, TX) who was credited with the loss after pitching 5.2 innings and giving up 3 runs on 27 batters faced.
