Men’s Basketball Falls to University of St. Thomas 99-86

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Men's Basketball team lost their road conference game against the University of St. Thomas 99-86.

The Mountaineers traveled to Houston, Texas, for their road Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matchup against the Celts from the University of St. Thomas.

Schreiner fell to 13-12 overall and 8-8 in SCAC play after closing out the regular season with a loss to the Celts.

Despite the loss, it was still a well distributed scoring effort by the Mountaineers, as they saw all five starters reach double digits in the scoring column. Cristian Rodriguez (Sophomore / Somerset, TX) led the way with 14 points, Kamden Ross (Junior / Cibolo, TX) finished with 13 points, Beau Cervantes (Junior / Bulverde, TX) finished with 13 points, Jalen Ned (Junior / New Orleans, LA) finished with 13 points, and Dylan Mackey finished with 11 points. Also, contributing off the bench was Michael Robertson (Sophomore / Austin, TX) who finished with 10 points.

With the loss, the Mountaineers will now barely make the cut as they enter the 2024 SCAC Men's Basketball Championship as the 6-seed, where they will meet the host team, Centenary College, in the opening round.
