Baseball Drops Series Against Whitworth University

Baseball Drops Series Against Whitworth University

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Baseball team lost all four games of their home series against Whitworth University.

The Mountaineers were at home for their four-game non-conference series against the Pirates from Whitworth University.

Schreiner would eventually fall to 2-9 overall on the season after the series concluded with the Mountaineers dropping all four games.

Game 1 SCH 6 – WHIT 14

Whitworth jumped out to an early lead to open the series with four runs scored in the 1st inning and continued to add to their lead in innings 4-5. However, the game was really won for the Pirates on the defensive side of the ball as they held Schreiner to just 12 hits on 38 at bats and did a good job of limiting production from the top of the batting lineup.

On the mound, it was Fito Mendez (Junior / Ennis, TX) who was credited with the loss after pitching for 4.0 innings and giving up 6 runs on 24 batters faced.
