Schreiner University

Darren Bauer will enter his second year as the head men’s soccer coach during the 2023-2024 season.

In Bauer’s first year at the helm, 2022 saw Schreiner finish with a 2-4-2 record in the SCAC, the highest finish for the Mountaineers since 2015. The year also included SCAC honors for Mason Lubbe (Honorable Mention All-Conference) and Owen Comstock (All Freshman Team).

Prior to being named head Men’s Soccer coach at Schreiner University, Bauer was the head women’s coach at Liberty Hill High School in Liberty Hill, TX. Bauer began on the men’s side at Liberty Hill in 2013 when the soccer programs were first imagined and took over both programs beginning in 2015. He would then go on to only oversee the women’s program from 2019 to 2022. In his time as head coach at Liberty Hill, Coach Bauer would amass a 232-59-17 record with three UIL State Tournament appearances and 9 UIL District titles.

Before Liberty Hill, Bauer was an assistant Men’s Soccer coach at Copperas Cove High School, youth coach for Crossfire Soccer Club and Miami Shores Soccer Club and was assistant Men’s Soccer coach at Manhattanville College.

Education:

Coach Bauer earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Lambuth University and a master’s degree in Sports Administration and Coaching from Concordia University Texas in 2005 and 2021 respectively.

Personal:

Coach Bauer grew up in Little Rock, AR. He and his wife Arlene have one son, Reus, and now reside in Kerrville, TX.
