SCAC Character & Community - Ky Kusak

KERRVILLE, TX: Ky Kusak of Schreiner University, a sophomore pitcher on the softball team from La Salle, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Ky is involved in many things on campus. She is a leader on the Schreiner Softball team, a member of the Ancient and Honorable Order of Campus, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the Young Adult Ministry Group at Schreiner.

"I think that it is very important to be involved on campus," said Kusak. "For one, it is a way for you to go out and meet new people. But (beyond that) it also shows your leadership, pride, honor, and your support that you provide for your school after all of the support that it provides to you."

When she is not out on the softball field, Ky loves to spend time with her teammates and fellow students volunteering out in the community and around campus.

"Character & Community, to me, are important attributes that a person should have," continued Kusak. "It shows pride, honor, and more importantly respect, not only to yourself, but to the people around you as well."
