Baseball Takes Series Against LeTourneau University 2-1

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Baseball team won two out of their three game non-conference series against LeTourneau University.

The Mountaineers traveled to Longview, Texas, for their road non-conference series against the Yellowjackets from LeTourneau University. 

GAME 1 (SCH 11 - LET 7)

Schreiner's bats were firing to open the series as the Mountaineers put up 11 runs through 7 innings. Graduate senior, Chance Goins, lead the way with a perfect 4-4 performance at the plate, highlighted by a Triple, a Double, and an RBI. Also with a solid hitting performance was graduate senior, Devin Hooper, who went 2-4 at the plate and recorded 2 RBI.

Reliever, Luke Rogers, entered the game in the 2nd inning and steadied the ship for the Mountaineers. Rodgers pitched 5 innings and only gave up 5 hits on 20 batters faced, picking up the win and moving his season pitching record to 3-1.

GAME 2 (SCH 18 - LET 11)

The 2nd game of the series featured a high scoring performance by both sides. Graduate senior, Devin Hooper had another strong performance at the plate as he went 3-5 with 2 Doubles and an RBI. Also with a strong performance at the plate was Isaiah Hernandez who went 2-3 with 2 RBI, and Chance Goins who capped off the high scoring 4th inning with a Grand Slam. 

On the mound, it was a committee of pitchers who got the job done for the Mountaineers, with Logan Sifuentes being credited with the win.

GAME 3 (SCH 2 - LET 6)

In the 3rd game of the series, LeTourneau bounced back and pcked up their only win of the series. The Yellowjackets scored 4 runs in the 6th inning that would ultimately be the difference maker. For Schreiner, it was Gerardo Cardoza and Adam Sanchez who lead the way on offense, both going 2-3 at the plate.
