KERRVILLE, TX: Schreiner University student, Matthew Kutz, is a sophomore from Goliad, Texas and a member of the University Shotgun team. He is also a member of the Men's National and Junior National Team with Team USA for Olympic Trap Shooting. Kutz made the USA Shooting National Team this summer and will be representing Team USA at the World Cup on Sept 21 in Osijek, Croatia.

"Making Team USA was always a dream of mine," said Kutz. "In order to make a team, you must go through a selection process sanctioned by USA Shooting, the governing body for all Olympic style shooting events in the US. I competed in the first selection match back in January which took place in Tucson, Arizona. I then competed in a match in Kerrville, Texas in March. The scores from both competitions combined selected the top 3 juniors to the Junior National Traveling Team. Back in May, I went to Germany with the rest of the team to compete in the ISSF Junior World Cup. My teammates and I ended up winning Team Gold in the 3-man team event! It was a surreal experience and now we're on the way to World Championships in Croatia. I can't wait to continue this journey and continue to reach toward my goal of making the 2024 Olympic Team."

The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris, France Jul 26 through Aug 11, 2024.
