Women's Basketball Gets SCAC Win At St. Thomas

KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Women's Basketball team won their conference game against the University of St. Thomas this afternoon 68-62.

The Mountaineers traveled to Houston, Texas, this weekend to play their makeup game against the University of St. Thomas. After a close first half, Schreiner found themselves down four points with some ground to make up. However, a strong second half by the Mountaineers, in which they out-scored the Celts 38-28, flipped the momentum back to their side as they went on to win the game 68-62. This would be the Women's Basketball team's third conference win (3-2), and their sixth overall win (6-8).

Leading the way for Schreiner was senior Miranda Vallejo who finished with a team high 11 points, as well as 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Also contributing was Zay Pirtle (10 PTS, 5 REB), Josline Hernandez (9 PTS, 5 REB, 2 STL), Elisa Peralta (8 PTS, 3 REB, 3 STL), Gabby Ivarra (7 PTS, 9 REB, 4 STL, 1 BLK), and Rodneyshia McMillian (5 PTS, 9 REB).

Up next, the Mountaineers will look to keep their momentum rolling as they take a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to take on conference opponent Colorado College.
