Rifle Wins MAC Championship

KERRVILLE, TX: In only their second season, the Schreiner University Rifle Team has won their first National Conference Title Championship in Air Rifle, within the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC).The Schreiner University Rifle Team scored an excellent score of 2,328 points, coming in First Place; beating out the U.S. Coast Guard Academy; to their 2,318 points.  The top four shooters for the Schreiner University Rifle Team were Freshman - William Baker shooting 590 points out of 600, Freshman - Samantha Albiniano with 582 points, Freshman - Justin Casteel with 582 points, and Sophomore - Madalynn Mann with 574 points.  It also should be noted that, added this year to the Rifle Team, was the 3-Position 50-foot Smallbore Team.  The Smallbore group of the Rifle Team came in Second Place with an impressive, first time competing score of 2,189 points.  The four Colleges/Universities competing in the 2021 MAC Rifle Championships consisted of Schreiner University, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, SUNY Maritime and SUNY Plattsburgh.  The Mid-Atlantic Conference is made up of Colleges and Universities consisting of, the SUNY Maritime, M.I.T., John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Canisius College, SUNY Plattsburgh, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy,  and Schreiner University.  With a lot of Colleges and Universities shutting down Team Sports, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rifle Teams within the MAC were able to continue and compete through what are known as "postal" rifle matches.  The Mid Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship matches were also conducted as a Postal Rifle Match.
