Schreiner Athletics Recognizes Softball Seniors

Schreiner Athletics Recognizes Softball Seniors

KERRVILLE, TX: With the season for our spring sports coming to end earlier than expected, Schreiner Athletics wanted to recognize the seniors for each of these sports.

A statement from Director of Athletics Bill Raleigh:

"As all of us deal with this unprecedented Coronavirus pandemic, Schreiner Athletics wanted to recognize the Seniors from our Spring Sports. All these athletes handled themselves with grace and dignity as the announcement came down to originally suspend then cancel the remainder of the Spring Season.  They have been great representatives of Schreiner University and the athletic program. We are very proud of these fine student-athletes and wish them the best as they graduate and head out to conquer their next challenge.

Thank you for all your hard work!"

We continue our senior recognitions by honoring the two seniors for the Softball program. Here is what Head Coach Alexis Lynn had to say about Courtney Bigley and Hannah Ortiz:

Courtney Bigley | Orange Grove, TX

"Courtney is a three-year letter winner for the Schreiner Softball program. I am so thankful for the time that I was able to spend getting to know Courtney. She worked hard every single day to put herself in the best position to help the team succeed. Being one of the leaders on the team, she was able to connect with her teammates so that when she spoke everyone listened. Courtney always led by example in the classroom, weight room, on the field and as a friend. We will miss the calm presence that Courtney provided at practice and in games, the laughs on the bus, and her honesty about the team and herself. We wish Courtney nothing but the best in her future!"

Hannah Ortiz | Boling, TX

"Hannah is a four-year letter winner for the Schreiner Softball team. She always focused on what was best for team. She understood the expectations that I had for them and held her teammates accountable. Being one of the most stoic players, I sure am going to miss all the funny facial expressions, our talks, and her ability to not let things get to her, good or bad. She really did save her best year for last and we were looking forward to all the things she was going to accomplish on the field. Hannah will be attending the University of Arizona next year to be part of their Biological & Biomedical Sciences program. We are so proud of her and can't wait to hear about all the things she is going to accomplish!"
